Road trip happenings
In short, I will sum up why the blog is a little behind. We have logged 6000+ miles in a matter of 7 weeks. YES, you are reading those numbers correctly. Needless to say we are true road warriors!
During one of our recent trips I told Jake we needed to get a journal to keep in the car so that we can write down things that we happen upon while we are on the road. We forgot to get the notebook so I figure I would just blog about our mist recent happening.
Tonight on our way back to TN we stopped in MS for food and gas and as we pulled up at the station there were 3 big dogs laid out in front the station like people greeters! We all cracked up because they never budged. Jake got out to pump the gas and he said one of the dogs got up to cross the street and it looked to the left saw a car coming and turned around and went back to his watcing post. Mom went inside and she asked the clerk about the dogs and she said they have been there for several months. I guess they really like it there! I tried to get a picture but it was too dark and they are scared of people according to the clerk!
Should we have anymore happenings tonight I will make sure to post them!

Taking roadtrips to a whole new level
Currently we are embarking on our second roadtrip in 2 weeks. I am still in the process of completing the post from the first one. It will come in due time!! Anyway, thought I would document a few moments of this trip thus far.
First things first, Gusley is OBSESSED with Bob Marley, well just one of his cd's. More particularly, Three Little Birds and Buffalo Soldier. He carried the cd to the car and gave it to Jake as soon as we were ready to leave. We listened to it in it's entirety about 5 times. Possibly more. It does soothe him and it did put him to sleep so kudos to Bob for that!
Secondly, we are very proud of Gus and that he can recognize and tell us the sound that all but about 5 letters make. He also knows #'s 1-9. Each and every truck we pass he is calling out all the letters and numbers in the order they appear and waits for us to repeat it back to make sure he has it right! It is rather entertaining because we have to figure out what he is looking at and spelling! It certainly helps the time pass! Sometimes he will get us and call out the numbers on the radio and clock. He is keeping us on our toes!
And finally, I will have to being you up to speed from the trip 2 weeks ago.....Gus got carsick so bad that we had to purchase a new carseat the next morning. Once we got home we were able to really put some elbow grease into it and get it clean and it is now like new. Since this incident he has been in the new not so fancy seat. Here is the reason for the intro:
He refers to his butt as "boo, boo" (sounds like a cross between boo and poop) so tonight he began squirming and saying "boo, boo" and pulling at his backside. He did not have a dirty diaper he just had an uncomfortable bum. Pulled over put him in the fancy seat (yep, I packed BOTH carseats....hell after what happened last time I will always be prepared!) hebis sleeping so sound and looks oh so comfy.
I am enjoying my chocolate milk and powdered donuts while Jake sips coffee and we listen to Ben Folds Five and enjoy each others company!
Not sure if this will post on the 12th, but if so, Jake, through the past 11 years I would like to thank you for being my friend, boyfriend, fiancé, husband and baby daddy.....in that order!! I love you and am looking forward to many, many more years with you!

Tent & Toddler - Day 2
I am not sure how this happened, but this should be between Tent & Toddler - Day 1 and Day 3, but it ended up here! Oh well, such is life. Our 2nd day camping was great. The weather was perfect. We slept great. Ate great. Went to 2 different parks several times. Felt like kids going down the slide over and over again! Swung. Played hard. Rode bikes. Smelled flowers. Went down to the beach area. Drove through the Bison and Elk Prairie. Gus made sure the entire campground heard him in the shower stall. Not screams of excitement and happiness. More likes shrieks of horror and terror. It was a simple cat bath (i.e. I wet the cloth wipe him with soap, rinse the cloth, wipe him and repeat.). HE NEVER GOT IN THE SHOWER, but you would swear I was holding him directly under it. Mommy needed a drink after the shower episode. Gus fell fast asleep. Jake hit the showers. I saw two skunks while he was gone. I stayed on top of the picnic table for about 20 minutes or so waiting for Jake to return. I was scared. We did not get sprayed. Jake and Gus were snoring their booties off while I lay wide awake listening to little rodents milling around our tent. I know we are in their territory, but still GO TO BED!
I do not have a picture, but 7 or so sites down from us was a 1990ish red Camaro pulling a kayak trailer loaded to the gills and each time it hit a speed bump it would bottom out. Well they decided to go for a joy ride WITH THE TRAILER at 10:55pm (quiet time begins at 11pm). I will leave it at that!

ATL - quick recap
On our way home we stopped and got a Frosty and drove up Lookout Mountain for a view. We stopped here on our way home from our honeymoon and we just fell in love with the area so we always make it a point to try to stop when passing through.

First ride of the day at Six Flags over Georgia ~ The Swings!! Who knew it had to be 50 degrees out before they would run any of the roller coasters? Not us! We waited 2+ hours for them to open, but had fun killing time getting acclimated with the park!

Our view...

We made it!!!!
For all our blogging friends, we made it down the bayou!!!!!!!!!! We are so happy to be here spending time with all our family and friends!!! We decided to leave earlier than planned and drive through the night....good and bad idea! Good idea was that Gus slept most of the ride, (definition of most = slept more than he was awake!) bad idea was that here was a terrible drunk driver on the road. He ran us off the road (thankfully we were ok) and never looked back. We stayed back and he ran at least 3 other cars off the road and at that point we decided to call the police. Of course, we got the run around from them that we were leaving there jurisdiction and entering another one, but that they would radio down to let the next jurisdiction know. We lost the erratic driver for awhile, but eventually caught back up to him. At this point he was still swerving, hovering the lanes, running folks off the road and hit a cement wall and kept driving. We got through to 911 and stayed on the line with them giving the mile markers as we past and finally a cop was able to get behind the driver and pulled him over. Drunk as a skunk.
This whole ordeal lasted over an hour on the interstate and we missed our turn to head South, but we could not let this idiot continue on the road in this condition. We felt that we had to get him off the road since we were spared we wanted to spare all the others on the road as well. And we did! Thanks, Birmingham Police for listening to our call and getting this drunk off the road.
Other than that the trip was smooth sailing. We are looking forward to spending a wonderful week with our family and friends. Pictures to come in the days ahead!!!

Who's counting....
I have always wanted to travel to all 50 states and now that I have a child I REALLY want him to travel to all 50 as well, which is what brings me to putting the map of the USA on the bottom of the blog with all the states we have been to thus far. Jake's will be coming soon...I need him to do it so that I do not forget any!! Gusly is only 16 months old TODAY and he has already been to 7 states.....born in TN, then off to LA, MS and AL at 5 weeks, FL at 8 weeks, KY at 7 months and GA at 15 months!! We have a little traveller on our hands and this summer is sure to add to his list..........at least we hope so!!!
