Happy Birthday, Sandy!
Happy Birthday, Sandy! Wishing you another year of happiness and good health! Hopefully next year y'all will be on the beach with us!!! Love, l*j*g

Grayton Beach ~ day 5
Not a whole heck of a lot happened today...RAIN, RAIN and more RAIN! The good news is we have been enjoying being able to spend so much down time together as a family. The fact that we have know where to be and nothing to do is awesome and we are loving every minute of it!

Went for a nice drive to Panama City. I had never been so Jake wanted to show me how parts look like they are still in the 50's and 60's and then we came upon this whole new area which was like WOW! The highlight of the day, are you ready for it? We were starving and figured as soon as the rain slacked we would stop and eat. Do you know when it slacked? When we were in front of Hooter's. Do you want to take one guess at where we ate? Hooter's! I was out numbered and it just seemed fitting to eat there, I guess! The food was good, but the company was better :-)

Started the day off checking email and playing some word games!

And on our way back to Grayton, we pulled over to get a better look at this place!
Except Gus didn't get to see it.....I guess Hooter's fries were too much!

Grayton Beach ~ day 4...part 1
What do you do when it rains at the beach? Take your child to the movies for the first time and see Toy Story 3!! We had no idea how Gus would like this, but he handled it like a pro! Had they not showed 15 minutes of previews he would have made the entire movie, but he got a little squirmy during the last 15 minutes! I think it is safe to say that Jake and Gus can start going to the movies more often! What a cute little movie!

Daddy and Gus watching the credits role.....such film lovers, which is why I love them!
A little Chick-fil-a does a movie goer good!!

Grayton Beach ~ day 3
Today started off with a little rain, but we were still able to get a good morning swim in! We all took a 3 hour nap and headed to the beach for sunset. We rode our bikes over and met Danny and Bridgette and the kiddos. Gus had the best time with Evan, Lucas and Vivian in the sand and surf. He is totally a beach bum!

I think they have reached a decision!

Deep in thought....the wheels are always turning!

This is what we do with the boys...put them in a whole and tell them to dig!

This my friends, is what the beach is all about!

Having a great time with daddy in the pool!
Watching the older kids very closely to see just how to swim!
Hummm, I think I got this!

Signs of a true beach bum......
Lucas with the first crab of the trip!
Gus being brave. I am having to force him to hold my hands. The water was very rough since Hurricane Alex was brewing in the Gulf.

Grayton Beach ~ day 2
What a fabulous day! Up and at em pretty early, but that made for a productive day. Went to the store, swam, ate twice and swam again all before lunch! After nap we headed to the beach. Gus and I sat on a chair in the surf and let the waves splash us. He did brave the water for just a little while but prefered to dig and play in the sand and eat ice!
We went for an evening bike ride down to the State Park to see Danny and Bridgette. We caught them just in time and all went for a bike ride. Gus and Viv had the best time in the bike trailer together!
One looking, one not looking!

And again.....

Then it was home for baths, dinner and bed. We had yummy Mexican fajitas and all the fixings.....homemade guacamole, pico and salsa!
It took Gus a matter of minutes to fall asleep and I don't think Jake and I are far behind him! Looking forward to another fun day in the water! No tar balls over here....hoping it stays that way!!

Grayton Beach ~ day 1
I am not even going to lie, the ride to the beach has been aweful. Gus is sooooo tired but has REFUSED to fall asleep. We just stopped at a park hoping to wear him down and he is still going strong! He is currently quiet and Jake just said to me, "I feel like I have just run a marathon." This is the start of vacation.....looks like we better get another bottle of Beam!
Stay tuned........

6 hours to the minute into the trip and he finally gives up! Shhhh :-)
Arrived at the beach house at 8:30pm. The place is sa-weet! We unloaded and took Gus for a night swim, which he loved! He was down for the count by 10:30pm. I stayed up till 3am and Jake came in sometime around 4am! That is what vacation is all about ain't it?!! We are having a great time and have no concept of time for the next week and it feels damn good! Beachbound on day 2!!

Kisses
Tonight was the absolute sweetest moment of the day! Every night Jake reads a minimum of 5-7 books to Gus before bed. It is their time together and they have a routine. Put the music on, put the fan on, turn off the big light, put the lamp on, fluff all 5 pillows, fix the sheets, and then Gus gets settled in his spot in the middle of the bed. By getting settled in I mean he gets his stuffed kangaroo, he pulls the covers to his chin and repositions his head until it is just so! It is the cutest thing. Anyway, tonight he went through the routine and when it was time for bedtime kisses he gave us our kisses then we had to kiss the kangaroo, Roo. Jake and I kissed each other then we each kissed Gus. This cracked him up and he would push me to Jake and say "more, more" for us to repeat kissing each other, kissing him, kissing roo. This went on for about 5-10minutes and we cherished every second of it. Gusley, you are such an affectionate little person and I just love it. Please don't ever stop hugging and kissing Mommy and Daddy. If you only knew how much it warmed our hearts!! We love you! Nigh, nigh!

A day in the life of a 2 year old
Since it has been 95+ degrees out we have been finding lots to do inside during the hottest part of the day. Here are just 5 random things we have done over the past few weeks. We do lots more, but most require both of my hands and eyes so I am not able to take pictures (i.e. painting, finger painting, etc.)
1. A nice long nap Al Bundy style!

2. Building some pretty clever baby potato heads.

3. Snacking on a blueberry muffin and a smoothie while watching Super Why with the hound.

Artist at work
Gus has really been enjoying his new outside desk. He brings his chair back and forth from the log cabin to the desk depending on what he wants to do. Here is the process of creating a masterpiece.....bring the chair to the desk, finger paint, put some finger paint in your mouth and run and wa la, there you have it!
