Baby pajama jeans? Yes, there is such a thing!

Mabel modeling her magnificent pajama jeans!!

That little butt and back just makes me giggle!

On our way to sitting up!

Had to show off the front "pockets"! She is going to love me for this one day! I just know she will!!

They must be comfy because this is what happened while I assisted Gus with something in his room for a minute or two! We know when she is really snoozing hard...one thumb in mouth, other hand above her head and feet in a heart position!!

Modeling is a tough job babycakes!!

Adventures with John-John our elf!

Saturday morning we were greeted by a little elf that arrived on our mantle during the night....the elf on a shelf!

We were all a little curious about him, so Jake got his book out of his package and read his story to us. Gus decided to name him John (suggestion made by Jake i.e. "John, Joe, Moe, etc."). He answers to John, John-John, Johnny, Johnny boy...not a very particular elf! He is making himself very comfortable over here and we are all having fun with him!

So far he has landed on our mantle...his initial entrance, then he headed up to Gus' room to his model plane!

Gus spotted him as soon as he woke up, but did not say anything to us. He just came and crawled in our bed and snuggled. When we said we would have to go find him, he smiled really big and said, "hims in mine room on my plane!". And there he was ;-)

I guess he was feeling musically inclined because this is where he was last night!

Gus was rather excited to see him on "daddy's bass guitar!"

Upside down in the dining room?! Getting a little mischievous are we, Johnny?

Stay tuned to see where Johnny boy will land next!!

It's snowing!!!

As I lay here nursing Mabel, Jake walks in to come to bed and he tells me it is snowing! So, of course I bring Mabel to the window to see!! Her first snow at almost 5 months old! And here it is 12:15am and she is just a cooing away to Jake and I! It's the little moments like this that make up for sleep deprivation.

Happy Fall Y'all!!

We took the kids to one of the local parks for the day and ended up getting some really cute fall pictures of them!!  One of my "things to do during fall" was to play in a pile of leaves!  We did it and it was so much fun!!  We all took part in the festivities, Mommy a little more than daddy, but he captured these awesome memories!  Surprisingly, Mabel was really into the leaves...straight to her mouth!  The girl loves to eat, even though her diet is strictly breastmilk, she doesn't hesitate to change it up with a few leaves on a Saturday afternoon!!  I seriously love these pictures so don't be surprised if they appear on this year's Christmas card!!

While Daddy was away.....

You don't know what you have until it is gone.  Absence makes the heart grow fonder.  Those quotes are rolling around in my head several weeks back.  Jake had to go out of town for work for 3 days and 2 nights.  This is something that we are totally not used to .  Daddy is home every night for dinner, bath and bed.  There are the occasional nights that he works late and misses the routine, but those are slim to none.  THANKFULLY!  I have to say, I had convinced myself that I was going to be out numbered and all was going to be ok.  On the whole, we survived, but boy were we glad to see daddy on that Friday night.

Those three days went a little something like this:

Wednesday:  All was good.  We had a really good day.  Gus did not nap which made for an early bedtime.  He and Mabel were bathed and in my bed for books by 8:30, asleep by 9pm!  Yay Mommy!!  I joined them soon after!  I was feeling pretty good.

Thursday:  Up and out the door for Gus to be at school on time!  I promised him if he had a good day we would go to the mall after I got off of work - it was too cold to go to the park that day.  We headed to the mall, made our purchases, had dinner at Cow's House a/k/a Chick-fil-A then headed home for baths and bed.  Again, no nap so they were both in my bed sound asleep by 9pm!  I was feeling pretty proud and I was able to accomplish all my work.  Sometime during the night, Mabel's diaper leaked so I moved our camp to the spare bedroom.

Friday:  Gus woke up at 8am on the dot.  He mumbled something along the lines that he needed to go potty.  It was not his usual potty request and my mommy instinct kicked in right quick and rushed him to the potty. Sparing all details, he had caught the dreaded tummy bug, the one that was sweeping the nation.  He was an awesome patient and  made it to the bathroom each and every time (5, 6, 7, 8....lost count at that point).  All I knew was my baby boy was sick and I was ready for daddy to come home.  Mabel, being the happy little camper that she is was AWESOME!  Thankfully!  She must have known that I was a little nervous as to how I would handle Gus sick, the work phone ringing, Buttercup skee-dooing under the fence and her crying because she is hungry or had a soiled diaper.  All of those events did not happen simultaneously, but they did happen several times, in that order, without a break in between.  Pinki came over to stay with the kids to rescue me!  She stayed with the babies while I drove to the city to pick Jake up when they got in around 7:30pm Friday evening.  We were all ecstatic to see daddy!!!  Gus did manage to eat and hold down his food with Pinki and was ready for bed when Jake and I got home.  I was exhausted as well and fell asleep with him.  He woke up at 2am and was just restless.  That went on for about an hour or so and I went to get Jake because I was stumped, I was not sure what was going on.  Jake walks in Gus' room and asks him, "buddy, are you maybe having hunger pains?"  Gus replies, "YES!"  So here it is 3:30am and the house is lit up like a Christmas Tree....Gus downs 2 1/2 bowls of Cap'n Crunch and Mabel wakes to nurse, Jake and I smile at each other and my heart fills with joy!  We all sleep in until 9:30am and everyone woke up happy and healthy!!
