Spring Fling
Mom's school held their annual "Spring Fling" at the end of April and she invited us to go. Dunk tank, playground, chalk, bubbles, hula hoops, music, free chick-fil-a, and lots of goodies at the bake sale! Gus had a great time and loved to watch the dunk tank! He was a little overwhelmed with all the kids everywhere and wanted to be where the action was at all times which made it a little treacherous for us, but we survived!!

RC Cola and Moon Pie Festival
Last year I heard about the RC Cola and Moon Pie Festival http://www.bellbucklechamber.com/rcmoon.html and wanted to go, but with Gus being so young we decided to wait. So this year I was not going to let it pass me by. We saw where they would be cutting the World's Largest Moon Pie at 3:45pm so we got ourselves together, slathered on sunscreen and began our journey to see this Moon Pie!! The drive out to Bell Buckle, TN was just beautiful. I had been there before and had been dying to go back. We got into the quaint little city and everyone was charging for parking except this nice little church so we turned off and parked and made our way to the festival..it was HOT, hot as Haiti, but we found some shade and bought an ice cold RC in a bottle and waited for the Moon Pie to pass us bye. The Moon Pie was coming and all the people began to gather...it was not at all what I was expecting....I was thinking it would be really think and creamy, but it was rather flat and limp, the heat could have been a contributing factor to its state, but we saw it! We then walked around a little while and Jake got a corn dog (which we all ended up nibbling on!) Then it was back to the car for some a/c. On our way to the car they had reduced the RC's and Moon Pies so we each grabbed one for the road. We were glad we did this once we got settled back into the car! Poor Gus, his cheeks were so red and he drank plenty of water, but it was just too much. I felt so guilty having subjected him to the heat, but from the looks of the pictures he and I took I think he had a good time! I have posted some of the highlights from the festival below! If we go next year I think we will go early in the morning and skip the largest Moon Pie, because we did not even get to get a piece of it!

Ahhhhhh.......

Pumpkinfest 2008
10.25.08....This was my third year to go to the Pumpkinfest in Downtown Franklin. Each year it seems to get bigger and bigger! We can't wait to go back next year when Gus is a little older and he can actually enjoy all the FREE toys and games and bouncehouses! Not to mention he can get a few candies for his mommy and daddy..hehehe :) Someone told us that Keith & Nicole (Urban & Kidman) were out there in the early morning, but we missed them since we were there in the afternoon!! Maybe we will meet up with them at Starbucks since that is where they seem to be frequenting these days!
Evan, our nephew, has a giant man very similar to this one. Evan, this guy was about 12 feet tall..think you can get yours that tall for next year??

Ham Festival
10.04.08 - Did I mention that up here there is a festival for EVERYTHING??? Well there is!! Very interesting!! Last year mom and I went to the Ham Festival and it was pretty nice, so we decided to take the little mister out since the weather was awesome and it was just 5 bucks per car to get in. We got there and met up with our friends Amanda, Tyler and Endi which was very cool! We strolled around the grounds and got free samples of well, HAM!! and we were hassled to join this church, vote for this guy, drink this juice twice a day and you will be healed from all medical mishaps you may have, etc....so we all decided it was fun, but a play date may be more fun!!
Gus offered to drive us down to the ham festival....we declined for obvious reasons!!

Mr. Cool, enjoying the ride!

Thanks to Amanda I now know exactly how to wear my sling so that it is hands free!!! Yay!! Thanks Amanda!!
Did I mention the play date was at 11 pm?? We went over to watch a movie and both babies were already sleeping by 7:00 so we had adult time to eat, watch part of a movie and visit then the two babies woke and were happy to see each other!! Endi a little more excited than Gus, but he hung in there!!
