First Day of Work and Nursery School

Today was a big day for both Gus and myself. I now have a part-time job at a local daycare center and today was my first day. I am fortunate that Gus is able to come with me to work and his class is right next door to the class that I am in. Here we are getting ready to walk out the door. I love how he is yawning before we even leave the house!

Well our first day on the job was not too bad. Considering he had his shots yesterday I think he acted pretty reasonable. He went almost 6 hours with no nap and when he crashed he crashed, but other than that the day was pretty uneventful....just more rain from Fay.

It's my party

Here is a picture of the birthday girl!! We made her a cake and had a party hat just for her special day!!

If the cake is hard to read it says "Happy Birthday Mom Pinki 5 2 3" I only had one 5 so we improvised by using 2 plus 3 equals 5!

Happy Birthday Mom!! We love you.

6 month check-up

8.25.08 Today was Gusley's 6 month check-up. He is now 19.8 pounds and 28 inches long! All was good. He is in the 79th percentile for weight and 88th for height! Unfortunately this was a check-up where he got his shots....he cried for the first two and was a little better for the last one. Once I picked him up he was giving baby smiles and attempting to flirt with the nurse between sniffles....too sweet!

This is the first doctor visit Jake was able to come to and we had a really wonderful day....the three of us!

Making sure he is reading the scale properly

Daddy and Gus waiting for Dr. Scott to come in

Once we got home the remnants of Fay started so we were on rainy day schedule. Jake and I were looking forward to a nice family nap, which took us almost 2 hours to get Gus to sleep...he was so delirious from his shots and being off schedule, but when he is down for the count he is down...we all slept from 4:00 pm - 6:45 pm. That is just what the doctor ordered!!

Shopping is great from this view!

Now that Gus is sitting up, I thought it would be a good time to break out the cart cover. He looks like a pro....as if he has been doing this for months. I must say he loved it and so did mommy, we will definately get our $8.00 worth out of this thing!

It's Playtime

Jake was a bit snap happy over the weekend, so I am sharing some of the cute pictures he got of Gus playing with all his toys, flying on Pinki's lap, laughing, a little tummy time and mastering the art of sitting!

$9,000.00 Banjo Anyone??

This past weekend something came over Jake and he suggested we go to the MALL....so being the shopper that I am I took him up on his offer and off we went. We have been to this mall several times, but have never stopped in at the Gibson Guitar store. Today we did. Jake has been wanting to test out Banjo's just for the heck of it. He picked one up and was strumming along when this guy came and offered him another one to play....when we looked at the price tag it was $9,000.00!! What an expensive habit!! Here he is strumming on his 'ol banjo!! One day baby, on day you will own one!!

This is what the little one thought of Jake's tune!

Is that RED hair??

On Friday I took Gus and Buttercup outside for a little play time. Once we got inside and I looked at the pictures I had taken, I noticed just how red Gus' hair is!! I guess he will have red hair like his Pinki!!

He can do it!!

The other night I went to Moms night out with the local MOMS club and Jake stayed home with Gus. I have never had the need to give Gus a bottle since I give it straight from the source, so it has been a while since I have seen him take a bottle.....to my surprise he can hold it all by himself!! I guess we will have to start him on juice in the next few months!

August 20th, 2008

As promised, here is a picture of Allison and Gusley in honor of her birthday!! Happy Birthday Allison, hope you had a wonderful day!!

Also as promised, here is a picture of the Orange Monkeys from Stroller Strides Olympics!! Please do not pay too close attention to the monkey on my shirt as it was a one handed attempt!! I took the easy route with Gus' shirt by ironing on an applique of a monkey that said "monkey business".

Little Gym

8.19.08 We met my friend Amanda and her daughter Endi at this place Little Gym, which from what I hear is similar to Gymboree. During Little Gym, Gus and I sang songs, he rang bells, and played on the mats. He really enjoyed this play date. Not to mentioned the bubbles at the end of class!!

Here he is rocking on the wedge!

Mommy and Gusley at Little Gym

Sweet baby face, having a blast!

Gus and Endi having a ball!

Sitting Up

Another one of my "catch-up" post! Two weekends ago Gus grasped the art of sitting all by himself. Check out our little big boy who we are sooooo proud of!

Once he got tired of sitting on his own we tried him in his Bumbo which he obviously loves. He is holding his first Webkin that his Nanny Camryn gave him!! He loves this little pug oh so very much!

Hanging out at the house

8.16.08 - Lazy Saturday.....Gi-Gi saved daddy's "Little Slugger" baseball hat so we decided to see if it fit! It certainly does!! And he loves it....I think we have a little ham on our hands! As you can see.

Our Little Slugger

Here's Gus up on all fours ready to crawl....mind you this was taken a week and a half ago, so you can imagine what he is doing now!

Like Father, Like Son!

Catching Up

Since my laptop has been on the blink, I was unable to post for a few days....now it is time to catch everyone up!!

I know I will probably bombard y'all with pictures, but I know you will enjoy all of them!!

Happy Birthday Mom a/k/a Pinki!!!!

Happy "double nickel" Birthday Mom!! We love you soooo much and appreciate all that you do for us!! Hope you have a stupendous birthday! You are such a wonderful mother, grandmother and mother-in-law. You never hesitate to help us out in any way. Even if we had a rough night and I ask you to watch Gus for just 30 minutes in the morning so I can catch a few zzz's, you always do it with open arms. Thanks!! I could write a novel about you here, you are the BOMB!! Stay sweet. Love, Lauren, Jake and Gus and Buttercup and The Dude!!

Cake Baking 101

In honor of Gus' 6 month "birthday", I decided to make a cake and have him help me!! For this post I will let the pictures do the talking. Unfortunately he was unable to taste the funfetti cake, but I will say that it was yummy. You can see the saliva just pouring from his mouth, I guess he is going to love cake batter just like his mommy!! Do not let the last picture scare you...I was right there and you can see my hand in the picture ready to grab either the cake or the kid, but that was not necessary! I guess we will try this again soon...seems like his "month birthdays" are a good reason to bake a cake!

Technical Difficulties

Ahhhh the age of computers.....my laptop has been overtaken by some sort of possessed bluescreen and 2579 virus as of today. Jake went to good 'ol Microsoft's website and the malicous spyware that they offer can't even penetrate this damn disease. Thankfully all of our pictures have been moved to a hard drive, but nonetheless it is a damn inconvenience at times like this when I want to post pictures of what we have been up to.

I will tell you the latest and post pictures as time permits!! How's that?! To start, Gus is now sitting up all by himself!! He started this over the weekend and we have been practicing to make perfect! It is sooo cute. I started him on oatmeal cereal and he made sure to let Jake and I know that he does not like it....he was gagging himself on two separate occassions when we fed it to him. We gave him rice cereal with apples last night and yep, you guessed it...he lapped it right up!

Today in honor of the Olympics, Stroller Strides had our own version and I won the sprint race....I still have it in me almost 10 years later...I can still run!! Yeah me!! I will post some picture of Gus and I, again as soon as I can. We were the Orange Monkeys. I died my shirt and his onesie and made an attempt at a monkey on my shirt!! Other than that we have been busy playing and learning new tricks!!

Check back in a few days....we should have pictures of all these happenings soon!!

Happy Birthday Allison!!

We just wanted to wish Allison a very happy birthday today! We love and miss you bunches and hope to see you very soon!!

I had it all planned out that I was going to post a picture of Allison and Gus in this post to celebrate her birthday, well just my luck, my computer has come down with some crazy disease/virus/ailment and I cannot access my pictures at the moment. So as soon as we are back in business Allison gets a picture post!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALLISON!!

Sitting is so easy!

Yesterday while waiting for Jake to get home we were hanging out in the bed playing and I decided to let him try sitting. He got it. There are pillows by him and it looks like he is relying on the pillows but he wasn't. He sat by himself for a good minute and a half or two!!! I am so proud of him!!

Oh yeah, as far as Gus sleeping in his own bed we are 3 for 3!! He is sleeping a little bit longer each night before waking up to nurse. Last night he went down at 9:30ish and didn't wake up to nurse until 3:00am!! Go Gus!! We love our sleep!!

Happy "Half" Birthday Gus!

Gusley is 6 months old today!! We went to Stroller Strides this morning and he had a fun time. The weather was great so he really enjoyed himself! We came home and he took a brief nap and then woke up for his photo shoot by mommy!! He decided to pull all his tricks out today! He is starting to sit by himself....not for very long....no quite long enough for me to get a good picture, but like everything else "I'm sure it won't be long!".

"Well you see mom, I am ready to sit up...enough of this laying down business." - Gus

Ahhh much better....sitting up is so much fun!

Rolling forward from the sitting position is fun too!!

Hanging out with my brand new Big Bird! I bought him that little Big Bird Tuesday in Nashville because when he saw it, he lost it, laughing hysterically, so I had to get it for him! Well I guess I should have bought two (one for the baby, one for Buttercup) because last night Jake and I found her fast asleep in her dog bed with Big Bird right beside her! So motherly you say, hummm how about so sneaky! Luckily she only "nibbled" on one of his eyes. Shheesh, never a dull moment!

6 months ago today it was Valentine's Day and we were at the hospital anxiously awaiting the arrival of our little bundle of joy!! Gi-Gi and Paw had driven all night to get up here in time for the birth and by golly they made it with plenty time to spare! This is Jake and I some where around 3:00 am neither of us could sleep. We were just overwhelmed that our baby would be here and we could not wait to find out girl or boy! At this point we were still debating over boy names...who knew we would have to make a decision on that within the next 24 hours!

Here HE is....Gusley Norman Cenac - 2.14.08....6pounds 14 ounces......20 1/2 inches long!!

The proud little family! This was just moments after he was born! Obviously I had been crying over the best Valentine's Day present ever. Who needs roses and candy when you can have a baby!! Jake was thrilled, excited, nervous, etc....at this point I think we had experience every emotion possible!!

Sweet baby face only 2 or 3 hours old.

It is amazing how fast the last six months has past, but I have to say I have enjoyed every single minute of it so far and I think Jake would have to agree, in fact, I know he agrees what am I talking about! We feel so lucky to have such a wonderful, calm, cool and collected child that is so easy going and doesn't fret over too much, well at least not yet!

I just have to brag on Jake for a minute. He is such a wonderful husband and by far a doting father. I love to sit back and watch he and Gus play together because they already have this impeccable bond and you can just feel the love they have for each other. It is awesome to have met the perfect person for myself and I just knew he would be great with our children and he has gone above and beyond. He is not afraid to change poop diapers or stay home alone with Gus while I have some "me" time (just to name a few)!! I thought I would share this because the daddy always seems to get overlooked or treated as though he is simply the monetary provider and nothing more, but in our case Jake is STUPENDOUS! We love you!!

Take me out to the Ball Game

Last night Jake, Gus and I went to our first Nashville Sounds game at Greer Stadium. It was non-profit group night and the MOMS club that I am in had free tickets so we went and met some of the other families there. It was alot of fun....we had nachos and pizza, Jake had a ballpark beer and one mom even shared her funnel cake with me (she too is a funnel cake queen!!) Our seats were on the 8th row even with first base. The game was 0-0 until the top of the 10th inning when the other team scored. The Sounds played a good game....just not good enough to win. Final score 1-0.

Here is Gusley cheering on the Sounds!

Look at me mommy....daddy has me watching the game sideways.....but I love it!!

Jake and Gus having so much fun....at this point it is 8:30 pm (well past bed time) and his 2nd wind and delirium has kicked in and he was REALLY hamming it up!!

Me and Gus hanging tough!

1, 2, 3 strikes your out at the old ball game! We had just gotten in the car...headed home!
