In short, I will sum up why the blog is a little behind. We have logged 6000+ miles in a matter of 7 weeks. YES, you are reading those numbers correctly. Needless to say we are true road warriors!
During one of our recent trips I told Jake we needed to get a journal to keep in the car so that we can write down things that we happen upon while we are on the road. We forgot to get the notebook so I figure I would just blog about our mist recent happening.
Tonight on our way back to TN we stopped in MS for food and gas and as we pulled up at the station there were 3 big dogs laid out in front the station like people greeters! We all cracked up because they never budged. Jake got out to pump the gas and he said one of the dogs got up to cross the street and it looked to the left saw a car coming and turned around and went back to his watcing post. Mom went inside and she asked the clerk about the dogs and she said they have been there for several months. I guess they really like it there! I tried to get a picture but it was too dark and they are scared of people according to the clerk!
Should we have anymore happenings tonight I will make sure to post them!

Chitter Chatter
Seems as though our sweet baby boy is really making the jump into full on toddlerhood and the baby days are coming to an end all to soon. He is talking up a storm and repeating everything we tell him to say!
As of today he can tell us where just about all his body parts are and he is obsessed with "bows" (elbows). He points out everyones bows! He recognizes almost all of his letters and can now say Q and U (shuuu)! We are currently working on X, Y and Z. He notices when there is a pair of something and points it out as soon as he notices it.
I am having such a wonderful time teaching him all of this. It is such a great example of practice makes progress! Kee up the good work big boy!

The name game
Before Gus was born the dinner table discussion was always "what is the baby going to call mom?" One night Jake suggested "Pinki" because mom's skin is so pretty and pink and she looks so lovely in pink. Pinki it was and Pinki is what it has been until last week when we pointed to mom and asked Gus to tell us her name. His reply: "na nice"! We have no idea where that comes from but he has since dropped the "na" and she is now just "nice"! That is a very fitting name for her because she is indeed nice! We love you na nice and had a great little roadtrip with you! Thanks for being so nice!

Happy Birthday, Jake!
Happy Birthday, Jake!! We hope you have a wonderful day and just want you to know how special you are to us! You are my best friend and I feel so lucky to have you in my life! You are a great husband and such a hands-on father to Gusley. I just love to sit back and watch the two of you play together and share those special father/son moments! I have no doubt in my mind that Gus thinks you hung the moon, and you have! I love how he looks forward to bedtime stories with you and how he snuggles up to you while you read to him. He is very fortunate to have a daddy like you and I feel fortunate to have a husband as caring, thoughtful and doting as you. Thanks for everything you do for us each and every day! Today is your day, so relax and enjoy it! We love you to infinity and beyond!!

Ouch
Last night was our last night of vacation and I had finally gotten Gus to bed and I was coming down to visit with everyone and I took a serious spill down about 5-6 wooden stairs. NOT GOOD. I was carrying a loaf of bread, Jake's drink and the baby monitor and what I thought was my phone (which we learned this morning that it was Jake's). The stairs were slick and all week I kept thinking one of us was going to fall down. Thankfully I was not holding Gus and was able to semi catch myself and Jake was at the bottom so he was able to get to me quickly. I have a bruise on my bum about the size of two fists put together and a huge knot. My right arm is scratched in a few spots as is my right leg. I will just say that riding in the car at the moment is not very comfy, but I will manage.
Pics and posts from vacation coming soon.

Good morning M-I-A-M
The other morning the firstthing Gus said to us when he woke up was m-i-a-m, MOM! Apparently that is how he spells mom! We have been spelling several words with him everyday and he loves to spell back. Not always correct, but he gets an E for effort. Way to go G-U-S!!!

Grayton Beach ~ day 6
Yep, another rainy day! We decided to swim in the rain...that did not last too long as it was rather chilly considering the sun hasn't shown in 3+ days! Little Mr. Turtle hanging out waiting for the rain to go away!

All the boys in the house sitting in age order, and no, we did not sit them like that. It is where they landed after showers!! Check out how Gus is looking at his Paran Cory in this picture!!

Good ol' Teenie came to the rescue with sand art! She save baby food jars during the months leading up to the trip and she brought sand back from the beach and we bought some food coloring and baked the sand to dry it out then colored it and there ya have it...sand art!! Gus had the best time helping mix the colors. He was more interested in that than he was making his "art"!

After dinner we headed over to see the family at the State Park. Jake spending some time with his niece and nephews and Gusley.....talking about NASA, stars or something to that effect with Evan no doubt!!

My picture of the moon taken by none other than my amazing husband!! I tried and tried and tried again to get this picture and he did it in about 3 clicks! Thanks, babe'!
Mommy, I think it stopped!
