The Cat NOT in the Hat!
Gus has been obsessed with Cat in the Hat and that is all he could talk about and anytime we discussed his costume it always went back to Cat in the Hat. Halloween day I made him this shirt and he was going to wear it with black pants and his Cat in the Hat converse. Like everything with a 2 year old IT DID NOT GO AS PLANNED.

WRONG! This ended up being his costume....the #2, as in a 2 year old! Perfectly fitting for everything!
THE SHIRT
DRAWING HIS "HISKAS"!
Looks like his is really liking the idea of being Cat in the Hat, right???

Trick or Treat Smell my Feet!
This year for Halloween I wanted to dress up. After a while it got old dressing up on my birthday and I boycotted costumes. Now that I have a child, things have changed. I WANTED TO DRESS UP! The day before Halloween Gus and I headed out on a mission to find mommy a costume. We went to Party City and all we saw were sexy nurses, nuns, barmaids, cheerleaders and the likes. Nothing appealing to a Mommy that knew she would be doing A LOT of bending down and such. We headed over to Target on a whim. As we were combing the aisles of mess/costumes we came to a cart full of castaways that one of the employees was returning to the shelves. There it was....my costume - a HOT DOG! I slipped it on over my clothes and Gus got the biggest laugh out of it so I proudly tossed it in our buggy and off to the checkout we went!
Here is Gusley modeling Mommy's hot dog! He liked it, but not enough to wear it all night! We even tried the neighbor's dog, Lucy's hot dog costume on him, but he was not interested.

Trick or treating was a lot of fun this year. Very crowded, but now we know where to go and where not to go! Gus really enjoyed himself and all of his treats!

Gus was a "2 year old" with his #2 shirt, Jake was a hobo of sorts and I was, well you can see what I was!
Gus and Endi in the wagon reading to trick or treat!
Such a big boy following the ghosts! He carried his bag most of the night and went to each house and said "tick tea"!
Chatting with his pals, Simone the poodle and Siena the horse!
Choosing his candy wisely!
Werewolf of Franklin!
Pit stop on our way back to our friend's house....

Pun-kins, umm not so much!
Last year we took Gus to a small pumpkin patch that is run by a local Boy Scouts troop in the area. The boys grow their pumpkins and then sell them to make money for their troop. Last year we found some really nice pumpkins and it was not overly crowded so we figured we would give it a go again this year. We call our pals to come join us and off we went. This first picture of Gus sums up the pumpkin patch.....pumpkins rotting and covered in stink bug looking insects is what we were greeted with!! We decided to get a few pictures of the kids since the sky was just beautiful and call it a scratch. Gus and Endi were so excited about the "pun-kins", but neither wanted anything to do with these pun-kins!! Hopefully next weekend we can see some nice plump pumpkins!!!

Pumpkin Pickin'
Fall is finally here!!! I love fall! I love October!! I love pumpkins! I love Halloween (not only because it is my birthday!!) The day was absolutely beautiful! Jake got up and went on an early morning canoe run with a buddy and after nap time Gus and I headed to the pumpkin patch with Pinki. He loves to hold hands and walk to where ever we are going (near or far). Before I can even ask him to hold my hand he is already reaching up for it! I love it! It was a little walk from the car to the patch, but as long as Gus had Pinki and I's fingers he was good to go!
Once we got to the patch his objective was clear.....roll over any pumpkins that were standing up right and that he did. As he would roll them over we were right behind him standing them back up. Once he had rolled enough pumpkins he was on to collecting kernels of corn and placing them in a nice little pile! I love this child!!

Free at last.......running through the patch!
Which one should I roll over next??!

Happy Birthday to ME!!!
As y'all know, my birthday is on Halloween so we opted to have cake on Saturday since Friday was a little hectic getting all suited up to go trick or treating. I must repeat, this was by far my best birthday yet, being able to celebrate with my own child....what a feeling!! I wanted to share some pictures from my little birthday party! I always make over everyone else's birthday because I feel that birthdays are special for everyone and that they are in fact a big deal. I feel stronger about this now that I have given birth and have my own child. So if I ever forget your birthday, please remind me and I will make sure to create a post in your honor, because you deserve it!! Happy Birthday to everyone that reads this and happy birthday to me!!!
Here we are getting ready to cut the cake....Red Velvet Cake!

This was taken while everyone sang happy birthday....next year Gus will be able to sing along!

Happy First Halloween Gusley!!
Here is the birthday girl/mommy and her little chicken!! Celebrating Gusley's first Halloween. The weather was perfect...not to hot and just cool enough that he wasn't sweating in his costume. We walked through the neighborhood and saw all the other costumes out there. Gus even went through his first haunted house and he never flinched. We will see if we can say the same next year!! All in all we had a nice family oriented night, nothing crazy, just simple and fun, just the way we like it!!

Here is the Haunted House we went through!

Halloween Fun!
After all the festivities of Trick-or-Treating Gus retreated to his "Oaklawn Tarpon" pants, as Jake calls them (Houma friends y'all know Oaklawn Junior High colors are blue and green). Gus must represent his daddy's junior high!! Here he had eaten his supper and taken his bath and was just deciding what to play with and Jake and I ate our Chinese take-out...yummy, yummy!!

This his how Marley spent his Halloween...in the recliner and in control of the remote control!
