Gusley has picked up on a few of our habits like when we laugh he laughs and covers his mouth and bends over cracking up and in turn we laugh even more, so he laughs even more and we are all cracking up laughing....this my friends, is ADORABLE. I will post a video very soon.
His other new facial expression is when he sees something he likes he opens his mouth like a little cherrios and tucks his lips in slightly. We call this his "O" face it is just too cute, as his little mouth looks just like a perfect "O"!!
Last week Endi and Amanda came over for a breakfast playdate. We made biegnets and shared them with Amanda and Endi!! Gusley went over to Endi and began tickling her toes....she thought it was funny and followed him around to tickle his toes then it became their little game of trying to tickle each others tootsie toes!!! They are so good together and play so well together!
For a while now I have been playing this little game called "cut the pickle" with Gusley when we are in the car, at the store or where ever and he gets in a little mood. It is sooo simple, but it works every time. All I do is put my pointer fingers together and tell him to "cut the pickle" and when he does I tickle, tickle, tickle him and he loves it....he never gets tired of it!!!
He has been so affectionate lately, which Jake and I can never get enough kisses, but each night he has to kiss Buttercup, kiss daddy, kiss mommy, and kiss a few other stuffed animals before bed, but his favorite is for Jake to tell him "a secret" in his ear! He waits for it and he holds Jake's chin while Jake whispers into his little ear, he gives a big smile, backs away and goes back for another one!! It is so beautiful to watch he and Jake together. They have such a strong bond and you can feel the love the two of them have for each other. They are the most important people in my entire life.

Ode to my cell phone
Dear sweet cheap cell phone, you will be sadly missed by Gusley and I! It was today, 05.27.09, that Gusley thought you were ready for your first swim without floaties!! He had the stage all set...the toilet was the main event with a green truck and yellow duck already waiting for you to join them! Unfortunately, the truck and duck were waterproof unlike yourself! You filled with water rather quickly and I tried to resuscitate you with the hair dryer, a towel, a q-tip, all to no avail. Sad to say but you are no longer with us, however, I will keep you around in hopes that when I get a new one, Gusley will still be attached to you!!
The true story: Gusley loves to see the screen light up on my phone and if I am on a call for work, I often show him the screen so that he is distracted and I can take the call...it works 99.8% of the time. Today he was feeling a little different about the phone, I guess. I have been in the habit of closing all the toilet lids lately because he has found a new fascination for them (open/shut/open/shut, etc........). Just this morning I was talking to Jake and telling him that since he is showing so much interest in the toilet I may start the process of potty training very soon! Not this soon, however!! Anyway, I knew the lid was down and I heard him slam it, I looked over at him and he had this smile from ear to ear(I thought he was happy because he opened and shut the lid). I looked over at him and said to him, "did you open and shut the lid?" and he kept smiling and walked over to me and we began to play with his train. After about an hour and a half of my phone not ringing I began to wonder.....I thought, where did he last have my phone, "ah yes, the bathroom, WAIT, THE BATHROOM??!!" I get to the bathroom and the lid is closed and there is no cell phone in sight...........open the lid, there in the toilet is my cell phone a green truck and a yellow duck. Cell phone is face down...this is no good I tell myself as I chuckle out loud. It was far too late to save it the screen was floating in a pool of water (it looked like one of those old plastic contraptions that you push the button and it makes bubbles and the bubbles push the little rings up and the object is to get them around a pole...yep, that is what the screen resembled). The good thing is that the phone cost $9.99 when we signed up for the plan, the bad thing is that a new one will be around $50.00 for a refurbished one. Ohh the joys of motherhood, but hey, it could be a lot worse, right? Jake and I must have laughed out loud about this a dozen times tonight!! We love our child, he is so innocent, cute, smart, funny and loving!! Jake's words to me where, "welcome to phase 1 of potty training!" Gosh, I love that man!

Sneezes
As I laid Gusley down to sleep tonight, he began to sneeze and my mind was flooded with memories of when he was first born. I remembered our first night in the hospital as a family....we opted to have him sleep in the room with us and all through the night he sneezed and he sneezed and he sneezed some more. Being first time parents, Jake and I were paranoid that he had already caught something, because after all, he was born at peek flu season. Unbeknownst to us, this is very normal for newborns to do. They have to get all the fluid out and what better way than to sneeze! As a newborn he would have two baby sneezes then the third one was always loud and dramatic, but oh so adorable!! Ahh the memories.....

What a pleasant surprise
Yesterday, the 20th, Gus and I had headed out for our afternoon jog and we were well into the route and all of a sudden the stroller jolted an flung him forward and scared the ever living you know what out of me! The front wheel had somehow come off, but not all the way off and in the process bent the contraption that holds it in place. I attempted to push Gus in the stroller by holding up the front wheel (yep, riding a wheelie!!).....well this was a tough task going up hill, so we pulled off, took everything out of the stroller including the little one and I tried my hardest to bend the metal bracket back into place, but I ain't no mighty mouse, so it was not happening! I rigged it the best I could to get us home and sent Jake a text telling him what had happened.
Once we got home, I got busy and forgot about it. I did not remember until this morning, the 21st, when I woke to a text from Jake saying, "I fixed the stroller, have a great day!" Oh happy day!!!!!! I love my husband so much, especially when I do not even have to ask for something to get fixed and he pleasantly surprises me!! Thanks, Jake!! You are awesome.

Happy Birthday Pops!!
Happy Birthday Pops!!! Hope you had a great day!! We sure are glad we were able to celebrate with you and we are so proud of Gusley for being such a good boy at dinner!! I think he is in yet another transition phase. He feels the need to be a part of the conversation.....we never had to leave the table with him because he was bored or antsy, what a nice dinner we had and the dessert was even better!!! Happy birthday, Dad!! Love you!

15 months
I am 5 days late blogging about Gusley's talents, traits, milestones, etc. at 15 months. We have been some busy entertaining bees lately!! Cory was up for a visit and he and Jake headed north to Chicago for 3 days and while they were gone Aunt Beth came back for another visit!!! We thoroughly enjoyed both visits and sure hope you guys come back real soon!!
I will start out by saying thank you to Jake for being such an amazing husband and father. Jake, I know I can be a bit overwhelming at times, but I know that you know and understand that I am just trying to be the best mother that I can be. Thank you for exhibiting such patience and understanding when it comes to me and my decision making or lack there of, of making a decision. (As you may see it at times.) Gusley, thank you for being such an easy going good natured child. I am new at the role of a mother, but I am trying very hard to be the best and give you my utmost as a mother. I love you so very much and am truly amazed at how much you have learned and how you are developing into your own little self! I can't even imagine what the future will bring for you, but I know it will be something big, really BIG!! You are an awesome son and a beautiful person.
These days you are really saying "da da" "ma ma" "bu-k"(for Buttercup) and when Mommy tells you that we need to bring Buttercup out to go te-te you go to the laundry room and get her leash and bring it to mommy. While I am putting her harness on you are grabbing the handle of the leash and holding it ready to walk her! You are a very head strong individual and know what you want and often do not settle for anything but! This is a great quality to have, but can be a little difficult for Mommy and Daddy at times, but we work through it and it always seems to work out. You know when we tell you we are going bye-bye to get your shoes and when we get to the garage door Mommy tells you to "push the button" and you take your little pointer finger and push the open button for the garage door and smile from ear to ear at your accomplishment. Same goes for when we are coming home you close the door for us. What a helper baby you are!
At the moment your favorite movie is Stuart Little. Daddy surprised you last week and bought you Stuart Little 2, but you haven't really taken to it like you did the first one...I'm sure with time you will begin to like it.
You do so well taking objects out and putting them back where they go. You love to count items, especially dog food and tupperware and your train with removable blocks that Endi gave you for your birthday. You love to help out around the house and are a really good listener. Lately you have been helping mommy get you dressed. I will tell you to give me your arm and you put it through the sleeve as well as your legs. You have your moments during diaper duty so I am thinking that it won't be long until we begin potty training. You much prefer to be commando than in a diaper, can't say that I blame you!!
Bath time is still your favorite time, actually anytime of the day that we are playing with/in water is your favorite time! In order for me to get you to take your medicine (Motrin/Tylenol) I have to run the water in the kitchen sink and you look at the stained glass we have on the back door and you take your medicine like a champ! As soon as you hear water running you are throwing your leg over the tub, which has caused you to fall in fully clothed only once!! You love to water our wildflowers and play in the hose....we can't wait for the weather to really warm up so that we can leave the swimming pool up for lots of afternoon play!
You have been drinking out of a straw for quite sometime now and you really enjoy it. We think it is pretty darn cute! You also have just about mastered the art of drinking out of a cup. You are a very good eater, better than Mommy at times! You love your "nana", yogurt, sweet potatoes, pancakes, corn, carrots, macaroni, peas, chicken, tofu and the list goes on...pretty much whatever we are eating you eat and we haven't come across anything that you absolutely do not like.
You are still taking 2 naps a day, well except today you decided to trade 2 for 1 really long nap (3 1/2 hours). I do not think I mentioned this yet in the blog but a week before Easter you decided that you no longer wanted your pacifier and gave it up. Mommy and Daddy would offer it to you, and you would throw it on the floor or push it away so we decided to get rid of it while we could. Now for nap time you say "ne-ne-ne" and Mommy nurses you. You are still breastfeeding about 3-4 times a day, some days are more, some are less, just depends upon our agenda. You are at 7 teeth and holding. I feel around in your little mouth everyday hoping, just hoping that another tooth may have popped through during the night and there is nothing there. You really enjoy brushing your teeth, some nights are better than others!
You LOVE animals, especially cats. We went to Happy Tails (a pet adoption center) Saturday and each cat that you came across you put your sweet little head on him/her and closed your eyes like you were in pure bliss with the kitty cats! You recognize that cats say "meow" and dogs say "woof" but haven't really mimicked us with that yet.
You love to "talk" on the phone although it is like the phone tickles you when we put it to your ear. You just begin to crack up laughing and smile ear to ear. This is very cute, especially when you are talking to Daddy! I have a pretend phone in the office by the computer so that if I have to take a work call you can take a "call" as well. This has been working for us lately!
Everyday is a new adventure with you and everyday I look forward to where that new adventure will take us! You and Daddy are the most important people in my entire life and I love you two with all my heart. Love, Mommy
As I was typing this post, I became flooded with memories of when I first became pregnant and how nervous I was about becoming a mother, raising a child, having to DELIVER said child, etc. so I thought I would share of few of my favorite photos from this special time......
We did not want to find out what we were having so this is what we showed everyone...the baby's feet!! This is from the last ultrasound I had, 20 weeks.
Here we are, nervous as hell, could not sleep, trying to pass the time and enjoy Valentine's Day!! I had been in labor since 5pm on 02.13.08 and this was taken oh, somewhere around 3-3:30am 02.14.09 (16 hours before we became parents)!!
This was taken around midnight on 02.14.09. I just could not stop looking at Gusley, I was in shock that I had a child. I was literally in awww for quite some time, a very good awww, I must say! I called him my little peanut from day one! I always heard about the bond a mother has with her son, but to actually experience it is phenomenal!! I love every minute of being a mother.
And now here is our little 6lb, 14ounce peanut........25lbs and still a bundle of joy!!

Mother's Day Weekend
I have been drafting on this post for quite sometime and figured I'd better post it before Father's Day rolls around!! I had a fabulous Mother's Day Weekend. The Cenac trio headed to Chattanooga on Friday evening and stayed until Sunday evening!!
While in Chattanooga we took Gus to the Aquarium http://www.tnaqua.org/, which is awesome and is comprised of two buildings. We walked the pedestrian bridge across the River, enjoyed yummy food, lots of sightseeing and we even rode the Incline Railway http://www.ridetheincline.com/!! On Sunday, Jake made reservations for us to have lunch on a riverboat cruise. The food was fabulous and we all really enjoyed the journey! I have uploaded some our favorites from the weekend!!
The aquarium has a really nice seahorse exhibit. I came to this aquarium with camp Skyline back in 1994is and I remember the seahorse exhibit...it was even better this time!!
