SAINTS v. TITANS - 09.02.10

This was Gusley's 2nd NFL game and 1st New Orleans Saints game! We had a great time! We ate popcorn, french fries, chicken strips, cotton candy and I think I drank a gallon of Sprite! It was HOT! The plan was for Jake and his pal John to go to the game and mom and dad bought tickets to go as well. At the last minute a friend of Jake's back in LA called to see if we needed tickets. She gave him 6 club level tickets and there were 6 of us that ended up going to the game...SCORE! We thought Gus was going to need a ticket, but I guess he was just too cute that they did not question his age :-)! He lasted the entire game! I must say it is different when you are at the game and your team is the away team, but it was fun to get a rise out of the Titans fans! Though we lost it was still a good game and a great experience!

Gus and Pops waiting to meet Jake and John outside the gate.

Breesus! Breesus! He's our man!!

Cheese Mommy!~

I heart Pops for this cotton candy!

Lovely!

Shovelling it in!

Who Dat!

Moving on to the popcorn.......

I think he is going for a record of how much he can fit in his mouth!

back to the cotton candy and I guess I was in his way :-)

Gus in seat #2...he was so proud of his #2 in his seat!

Special Father/Son night!

Trying to stay awake by eating!

What a fun night! Anything Gus sees with a Fleur de lis on it he tells us "Saints" or "Go Saints"! It really is in the blood!!

Tent & Toddler - Day 1

Today we headed up to Kentucky for a weekend tent camping trip. This was Gusley's first tent camping trip. We left the house later than we expected, but the traffic wasn't bad so we got to the sight at 10:15pm with a sleeping baby. We were greeted by 5 deer at the campground entrance and saw like 7-9 on our way into the park! We had a plan...baby stays sleeping, we quickly set up the tent, Jake takes baby out of car seat while I set up the "bedroom", put baby in bed and we enjoy some wine and each others company out by the campfire. This my friends is how it played out......baby's head was slouched and slumped over so I attempt to fix it, baby is now awake, I take him out of the car seat and he snuggles up on me and is back asleep, meanwhile, Jake is attempting to set up our mammoth 2 bedroom tent ALONE in the cold night air while I sit in the car and giggle to myself out of pity for him. In the midst of setting up a tent a gigantic white skunk makes and appearance. This thing had a tail the size of mid-sized palm and it was fluffy. I saw it first and start hitting on the car window to alert Jake, (it was after 11pm so blowing the horn was out of the question) knowing he can't hear me, I flash the head lights and at the same time he sees our new friend. He gets the flashlight and goes to shine it on the skunk then we realize, what the hell are we thinking, we will oblige and be its friends, after all we like the way our stuff smells and would prefer not to wear the scent of skunk for the next 3 days. The skunk wins. (SIDE NOTE: Jake tells me I should feel privileged to have seen a white skunk as they are very rare...celebrity sighting perhaps?!) I am freaked out and my eyes are as big as saucers looking for more. Back to the tent....Jake gets all the poles in and needs me to hold one side up so he can anchor it down. I comply with a bundled up baby in my arms. The tent is up, the baby is still asleep so I pass him to Jake, they sit in the car as I set up the bedroom, the baby gets in the bed and is sound asleep. Jake gets a fire going and we stay up until, well we really don't know what time, but somewhere between 3:45am and 4:00am we would have to guess! Baby is awake at 7:10am and the day begins! Who cares how much sleep we get, we are together camping making wonderful memories! Stay tuned the rest of the trip is coming soon!!!

GOOP

As I sit here watching re-runs of The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien unbeknownst to me his guest tonight is Gwyneth Paltrow!! I really like her and am glad I caught this episode as I have learned she has her own website "Goop". I LOVE IT and it is my new favorite website! She shares travel tips, recipes, shopping venues, exercises, etc. Just a very simple site with lots of valuable information. Check it out if you have a few minutes. I have signed up for her newsletter and can't wait to get my first one!

Toodles!

Conan don't go

The past few weeks there have been talks about moving Leno to Conan's spot and bumping Conan back a 1/2 hour....NOT COOL. The latest is that NBC is going to drop Conan and next Friday could be his last show.....REALLY NOT COOL.

Jake has been watching Conan since he first came on the air and he got me watching him. Now we are addicted and watch it every night. It is one of the only shows that I truly look forward to. What are we going to watch if Conan goes? who will take his place? NBC have you lost your mind? Seriously, you would rather jerk Conan off the air and show more Leno? Get your head checked and listen to what the people want.....WE WANT CONAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hunk-a-hunk-a-burnin' love.....Elivs Presley!

Happy 75th Birthday to Elvis Presley!!

What I would have done to have seen him live????? A lot!! It is amazing to think that my grandma was just 6 years old when Elvis was born!! Interesting to think that in her generation Elvis was the King and for my generation Michael Jackson was the King! Two phenomenal singers/entertainers/musicians who were so talented...they just don't make them like that anymore. There will never be another Elivs or MJ. Long live the Kings!

I can remember when I was about 4-5 years old mom and dad had an Elvis cassette and every time we got in our car I had to put it on and listen to it...Hound Dog, Jailhouse Rock...all the hits! When I got older, dad gave me all his vinyl and there are plenty of Elvis in there. Can't wait to get a new needle so we can introduce Gus to MUSIC not this new pop shit that they are trying to pass off as music these days. Sorry, I am very old school when it comes to that and I refuse to progress and give in to the modern day music. I should have been raised in the 50's, 60's or 70's because musically that is where my heart is.

From "Bridge Over Troubled Water", "Blue Suede Shoes", "Can't Help Falling In Love", "Hound Dog", "Fever", "Jailhouse Rock", "I Can't Stop Loving You", "Suspicious Minds", "In the Ghetto", "Little Sister", "It's Now or Never", "Don't Be Cruel" to "Kentucky Rain" and I can go on and on and on! Though some of these are not his 'originals', they are some of my favorites that he sang/recorded.

Jake and I did go to Graceland a few years back, but we did not take the tour of his home. (We were broke college kids) We will get back out there one day to take the tour. I love Sirius Radio because they have an Elvis Channel (Channel 13)!

In honor of his birthday I am posting two of my favorite pictures of the King.....Enjoy! Thank you, thank you very much!!!
